H E A D S H O T S : kate

(this post is not done, I have more pictures to add!)

dear world,

it's silly how many freckles have been on my blog lately. I love it. i wish i had an abundance of freckles. oh on with the show. meet kate.
Kate duffy played my lesbian lover in Wild Party. she is about 12 solid inches taller than me ( thats a foot for all of you math wizards) but I was still the man in the relationship. ( Naturally, as she played a Hooker)
Kate has an AMAZING voice, she was also the lead in OKLAHOMO this spring at American University's Greenberg Theatre, shes sort of a big deal.
aside from all of that she is humble, and a d o r a b l e

lol....shell kill me for posting this but it cracks me up...
I am SUCH a fan of this pouty face.
i'm gonna miss this babe...

You can see her this fall working on Chekov's "Three Sisters"
Or, wandering around Mcdowell dorms where she is an RA on a floor appearantly full of drunk boys with no shirts ( heaven...)
These are only the ones I liked at first glance, this was a 4:30 Shoot, and I am posting this at 7:04 ( Please be impressed with that turn around time people hehe....)

P E R S O N A L I T Y H E A D S H O T S : David

dear world,

i give to you david landstrom. what a a heart breaker this one.
yes that's a bow tie.

David is a dancer, actor, and in INCREDIBLE singer as one of the D'armono brothers. He was in Wild Party with me and recently won the school over with his portrayl of Will Parker.
He also sings for the men's a capella group " On a Sensual Note" at American University.
These aren't even really the good pictures, obviouslly, we just had so much fun taking pictures that I had to post all of the goofy ones.

doesn't he remind you of Fred Savage from the Wonder Years?

F R E Q U E N T L Y : asked questions

1. What kind of camera do you shoot with?

Currently, a Nikon D5000. It's pretty new though so some of my older pictures were taken with a Digital Rebel SLR . I also have a 35mm Rebel.

2. Where do you shoot?

Honestly, I don't use a studio. I use the Katzen arts center and I use naturaly sunlight 99% of the time, it brings out the best in people's coloring and gives a natural and refreshed look. For my outdoor shots, I do a lot at the potomac river, and the U.Street area depending on if a client wants a natural or urban feel to their shoot.

3. What do you shoot?

Typically headshots and portraits. I've been doing a lot of baby portraits lately, and those are a lot of fun too! A lot of my rep is also shooting live theatre, I have been commissioned over the last 6 years to shoot at least 25 shows. I've also done some international shoots and landscape through Europe and Africa.

4. How much do you charge?

Usually, for a full shoot $150, but since I am moving to LA in the next 2 months I have lowered my price to accomidate people who have always wanted a shoot like this and may not have time to save up before I'm gone. The price of each shoot is dependant on time/locations/number of shots. I am also currently running a special for people who I photographed over the years with my older equipment to update their headshots.

5. Do you offer hair and make-up?

As a theatre major in college, I have had to take classes and work on shows in hair/make-up and costuming. I have also worked at a hair salon ( Mano ) in Bethesda. I am more than willing to help out with that aspect, if you aren't comfortable doing it on your own.

6. How long have you been doing photography?

I have been shooting with SLR cameras for 8 years. I took Studio photography courses at Duke Ellington School of the Arts 5 years ago- Ever since it has gone from a hobby to a professional business of mine.

7. How do I book a shoot with you ?

you can email me @ hope.makes.music@gmail.com and we can scheduale a time as well as discuss style/location possibilities and price ranges. I'd love to take your picture.

H E A D S H O T S : caleen

Dear world,

You know that wise woman who feels like a mother to the whole world? you probably know Caleen Jennings. Playwright . Teacher . mother . actress . musician . director . overall life guru .

My freshman year of college I photographed a play that Caleen had written called " Elsewhere in Elseanore " . a photo i took made it onto the cover of the published script.

when she asked me to take her headshot for the inside of another book/collection that was being published, I thought how cool! a tiny little hope picture will be inside hundreds of books!

if you ever have the chance to work with her. Learn from her . Speak with her . Do it.
