1. What kind of camera do you shoot with?
Currently, a Nikon D5000. It's pretty new though so some of my older pictures were taken with a Digital Rebel SLR . I also have a 35mm Rebel.
2. Where do you shoot?
Honestly, I don't use a studio. I use the Katzen arts center and I use naturaly sunlight 99% of the time, it brings out the best in people's coloring and gives a natural and refreshed look. For my outdoor shots, I do a lot at the potomac river, and the U.Street area depending on if a client wants a natural or urban feel to their shoot.
3. What do you shoot?
Typically headshots and portraits. I've been doing a lot of baby portraits lately, and those are a lot of fun too! A lot of my rep is also shooting live theatre, I have been commissioned over the last 6 years to shoot at least 25 shows. I've also done some international shoots and landscape through Europe and Africa.
4. How much do you charge?
Usually, for a full shoot $150, but since I am moving to LA in the next 2 months I have lowered my price to accomidate people who have always wanted a shoot like this and may not have time to save up before I'm gone. The price of each shoot is dependant on time/locations/number of shots. I am also currently running a special for people who I photographed over the years with my older equipment to update their headshots.
5. Do you offer hair and make-up?
As a theatre major in college, I have had to take classes and work on shows in hair/make-up and costuming. I have also worked at a hair salon ( Mano ) in Bethesda. I am more than willing to help out with that aspect, if you aren't comfortable doing it on your own.
6. How long have you been doing photography?
I have been shooting with SLR cameras for 8 years. I took Studio photography courses at Duke Ellington School of the Arts 5 years ago- Ever since it has gone from a hobby to a professional business of mine.
7. How do I book a shoot with you ?
you can email me @ hope.makes.music@gmail.com and we can scheduale a time as well as discuss style/location possibilities and price ranges. I'd love to take your picture.
